Iwan - a Bali Wedding Photographer - Facts and FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

As a Bali wedding photographer since 2008, I have spent more than a decade learning how to capture real moments, genuine emotion, and the quiet details that make each wedding unique. Over the years, I have documented more than 800 weddings across the island, from intimate elopements at private villas to full-day celebrations at some of Bali’s most prestigious venues. Every wedding I photograph is covered by a two-photographer team, so no moment goes unnoticed, whether it is the groom’s expression as you walk down the aisle, or your grandmother laughing at the reception.

A Natural, Story-Driven Approach

My style is relaxed and unobtrusive. I guide you when it helps, especially during couple portraits, but most of the time I stay in the background, letting your day unfold naturally. The laughter, the tears, the quiet glances between you and your partner, those are the moments that matter, and they cannot be staged. The result is a wedding gallery that feels honest and timeless. Not a catalogue of poses, but a real record of one of the most important days of your life.

Bali Wedding Venues — Local Knowledge That Makes a Difference

Every wedding venue in Bali has its own light, its own timing, and its own character. Knowing how to work with each one comes from years of experience on the ground.

Since 2008, I have photographed weddings at some of Bali’s most iconic locations and luxury venues, including Alila Villas Uluwatu, Ayana Resort Bali, Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan, Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay, Khayangan Estate, Kayon Jungle Resort Ubud, Royal Pitamaha Ubud, Peppers Seminyak, The Apurva Kempinski Bali, and many more across the island. From clifftop temples in Uluwatu and sunrise settings in Ubud, to beachfront resorts in Nusa Dua and private villas in Canggu and Seminyak, I have worked at nearly every major wedding venue in Bali. If you have a venue in mind, I have very likely been there.

Two Photographers, So Nothing Gets Missed

For every wedding, I work alongside a second photographer. While I focus on the main story, the ceremony, the couple, the key moments, my second photographer captures the details, the guests, and the candid moments happening at the same time. The result is a fuller, richer gallery that tells the complete story of your day.

Wedding Videography, Also Available

If you would like both photography and videography covered, we offer wedding video packages as well. Having both handled by one coordinated team means smoother communication, better timing, and a consistent visual style across your photos and film.

Reliable Bali Wedding Photography, Since 2008

We know how much trust goes into choosing a wedding photographer in Bali. You are booking someone months in advance, often from the other side of the world, for one of the most important days of your life. Since 2008, we have documented more than 800 weddings across Bali, at clifftop venues in Uluwatu, rice field settings in Ubud, beach villas in Seminyak, and luxury resorts across the island. Every session is backed up to multiple storage systems immediately after the shoot. Your photos are safe. Delivery for wedding and pre-wedding sessions takes up to six weeks. Our editor reviews and refines every image personally, because your wedding photos deserve careful attention, not a quick export. Bali wedding photography is what we do, and we have been doing it longer than most. If you want a photographer who knows this island, works calmly under pressure, and delivers photos you will genuinely love, we would be glad to be part of your day.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a Bali wedding photographer?

As early as possible is always the best approach. Popular wedding dates, especially during peak season between May and September, can fill up quickly. That said, there is no strict rule. We have received bookings as early as a year in advance and as last-minute as one week before the wedding day. As long as we are available on your date, we are happy to make it work. The best first step is simply to reach out and check.

Do you travel to all areas of Bali for weddings?

Yes. We cover the whole island, including Uluwatu, Ubud, Seminyak, Canggu, Nusa Dua, Jimbaran, and Sanur. We also travel beyond Bali to Nusa Lembongan, the Gili Islands, Lombok, and Labuan Bajo. If your venue is in a more remote location, just let us know and we will work out the logistics together.

What is your wedding photography style?

Our style is natural, relaxed, and story-driven. We focus on real moments rather than heavily posed shots. We will guide you when it is helpful, especially for couple portraits, but most of the time we work quietly in the background, capturing your day as it happens.

How many photos will we receive?

The number of images depends on your package and the duration of coverage. You will receive a fully edited gallery of the best images from your day. We do not deliver every single frame we shoot. We select and edit the ones that truly tell your story, from every moment we captured.

How long does it take to receive our wedding photos?

For wedding and pre-wedding sessions, delivery typically takes up to six weeks. This time is spent making sure every image is carefully edited and refined. If you need your photos sooner, please ask us about our express delivery option.

Do you shoot alone or with a team?

Every wedding is covered by a two-photographer team. For longer sessions that run into the evening, we also include a lighting assistant to make sure every moment is beautifully lit. This means we can capture the ceremony, couple portraits, guest moments, and candid details all at the same time, giving you a fuller and more complete gallery.

Do you also offer wedding videography?

Yes, wedding videography is available as part of select packages. Having both photography and video handled by one coordinated team means better communication and a consistent look across all your wedding media. Please contact us to discuss the options available.

Can we meet or have a call before booking?

Absolutely. We are happy to arrange a video call to answer your questions, discuss your plans, and make sure we are the right fit for your wedding. Some couples also use this time to go through their wedding rundown or discuss décor and lighting, since having a photographer involved early in that conversation can make a real difference. Just reach out through our contact page and we will find a time that works for you.

What happens if it rains on our wedding day?

Bali’s weather can be unpredictable, especially during the wet season. We have photographed hundreds of weddings in all conditions and know how to adapt. Some of the most beautiful wedding photos come from unexpected weather, and evening rain in particular can produce dramatic, cinematic images that surprise even the couples themselves. We will work with you and your venue to make the best of whatever the day brings.

How do we book and what is the payment process?

To secure your date, simply fill in our reservation form at www.iwanphotographybali.com/reservation/ and we will send you an invoice shortly after your submission. A 30% deposit is required to confirm your booking, with the remaining balance due before your wedding day. Full details are available on our pricing page.
