Isabelle and Harry picked Alila Seminyak for their big day, and honestly, we can totally see why! Alila Seminyak is one of our favourite beachfront wedding venues in Bali. It’s a stylish, modern resort sitting right on Seminyak’s long sandy beach, with a lovely oceanfront lawn for the ceremony, gorgeous spots for dinner, and all the fun of Seminyak just outside the door.
The morning started nice and relaxed. Isabelle got ready with her mum and her bridesmaids (lots of laughs, a few selfies!), while Harry hung out with his groomsmen on the lawn. The suites at Alila Seminyak are full of warm timber and soft natural light, so the getting-ready photos come out beautifully without anyone having to go anywhere.
Why We Love Alila Seminyak for a Beachfront Wedding
The ceremony spot at Alila Seminyak sits right at the edge of the beach, so you get the Indian Ocean as your backdrop and nothing but open horizon behind you. Just so you know, the beach here is Bali’s natural black volcanic sand, not white sand, but here’s the good part: it faces straight west, right into the sunset! No long walk down to the sand, no bumpy ground for your guests, and the lawn and deck mean everyone gets a great view of the vows. Once you’ve said “I do”, you can hop straight onto the beach for couple and bridal party photos, then stroll over to the reception without ever leaving the resort.
The location is a big bonus too. Alila Seminyak is right in the heart of Seminyak, just a few steps from the busiest streets, beach clubs and restaurants, and it’s easy to get anywhere in Bali from here. Super handy for guests staying nearby, and perfect if you fancy a few drinks or a nice dinner out the day before or after the wedding.
When to Start Your Alila Seminyak Wedding Ceremony
Planning a classic Western or Christian ceremony? These usually take about 30 minutes, so our tip is to start at 4:45pm. That gives you time to finish the ceremony, soak up all the hugs and congratulations, grab a few group photos, and still catch the best golden light for your couple portraits on the beach as the sun goes down. Start too late and you’ll feel rushed, or miss the sunset photos altogether, and we’d hate for that to happen!
The Best Months for an Alila Seminyak Wedding
If you’re hoping for that perfect clear sunset, May, June, September and October are your best bets. July and August are lovely too, with nice weather, comfy temperatures and less humidity. It can get pretty windy on the beach though, so keep that in mind for veils and decorations! The other months have a higher chance of rain or thick cloud. Isabelle and Harry’s wedding was in April, and a big bank of cloud rolled in over the ocean in the late afternoon, so we didn’t get a proper sunset that evening. But you know what? The soft light and the reflections on the wet sand still gave us some really beautiful, moody photos.
As the evening rolled on, everyone moved to a candlelit dinner and then onto the dance floor under the glowing lights. There were so many laughs, some really touching speeches, and yes, a few happy tears too.
