A few days after their pre-wedding session at Tamblingan, Cherry and Carl got married in an intimate elopement at Balangan Beach. Read the first part of their story here: Cherry and Carl’s pre-wedding session at Tamblingan.

Balangan Beach sits on Bali’s southern peninsula, between Pecatu and Jimbaran. With its pale sand, rocky outcrops and cliffs, it is one of the most beautiful places for Balangan Beach weddings, and the ceremony spot on the cliff has a wide view over the ocean.

Balangan Beach is usually at its best in the afternoon, when the light turns golden. But it was the rainy season, and Cherry and Carl’s event organizer was worried that afternoon showers could spoil the ceremony, so they scheduled the elopement early in the morning instead. The sky was bright and blue and the light was clear.

We started with the preparations at an accommodation in Jimbaran, in a rustic wooden room lit by the warm yellow bulbs that are so common in Bali. They are a headache when tuning the white balance, but they gave these photos a cozy, warm mood. There was Cherry’s make-up and her lace dress, Carl in a cream suit buttoning his jacket, and a bouquet of white flowers and baby’s breath with a veil. Cherry’s blue hair, decorated with small white flowers, made her look even more unique.

The ceremony took place on the cliff, under a round arch of white flowers with the ocean behind them. A celebrant led the ceremony, and Cherry and Carl read their vows and exchanged rings. At the end, petals were thrown into the air and Carl popped a bottle to celebrate.

After the ceremony we walked down to the beach for some quiet portraits among the rocks. Cherry changed into a simple white dress, and the two of them walked hand in hand along the water’s edge.

Best Time for Balangan Beach Weddings

The afternoon is still the classic time for Balangan Beach weddings, because of the golden light and the sunset. But in the rainy season, from around November to March, early morning is the safer choice. Rain here usually passes very quickly, so in the morning we can simply wait a little and still hold the ceremony once it stops. In the afternoon there is no such room to wait, because it gets dark soon after sunset.

This elopement was covered by one photographer only. If you want a simple wedding or elopement that one photographer can cover, please contact us for a custom quotation based on your needs.

Cherry and Carl, thank you for trusting me with your elopement. I wish you both a long, happy and loving marriage, full of laughter, adventure and quiet mornings together, just like the one we shared at Balangan Beach. Congratulations, and all the very best!
