A Romantic Bali Proposal in Ubud

Bali is a dream destination for couples, and for Jay and Aimee from Hong Kong, it became the place where their love story took a beautiful new step. As a Bali photographer, I was contacted by Jay before their trip with a clear and heartfelt idea. He wanted to plan a surprise proposal in Bali and capture it naturally through photography and video.

After discussing the concept together, we decided to create a full day proposal photoshoot around Ubud, combining nature, culture, and relaxed moments.

Morning Photos at Tegalalang Rice Terrace

We started the day early, around 6 in the morning, to enjoy the soft light and quiet atmosphere. Our first stop was Tegalalang Rice Terrace, one of the most iconic locations in Bali. The peaceful scenery was perfect for warming up with casual couple photos while keeping the proposal a secret.

The Proposal at Blangsinga Waterfall

From there, we continued to Blangsinga Waterfall, where Jay planned to propose. The dramatic waterfall and cliffside created an emotional and unforgettable setting.

Since a videographer was also involved, we carefully arranged the moment. I took Aimee for a short solo session while Jay went with the videographer to secretly attach a lavalier microphone. This step is very important if you want your proposal video to capture your voice clearly, especially near a loud waterfall.

When the moment came, Jay proposed and Aimee said yes. It was an emotional and joyful moment, exactly what a Bali proposal should feel like.

Exploring Ubud After the Proposal

After the proposal, we continued exploring Ubud. Monkey Forest Ubud was very crowded, which makes it better for sightseeing than couple photography. Instead of forcing the shoot, we moved on to Ubud Market for relaxed street photos that felt natural and fun.

We ended the day with a romantic dinner at Kamandalu Ubud. The setting was beautiful and intimate, but it is important to note that some hotels charge extra if you bring a photographer, even for a short session. Kamandalu does apply this policy, so it is always best to check in advance when planning a proposal photoshoot in Bali.

Congratulations to Jay and Aimee on your engagement. Wishing you a lifetime filled with love, happiness, and unforgettable adventures together. May your Bali proposal always be a beautiful memory that marks the beginning of an amazing journey as a couple.
