Liana and Shawn’s intimate wedding at The Royal Pitamaha in Ubud was truly something special. As their wedding photographer, I was able to capture a ceremony that felt peaceful, emotional, and deeply personal, surrounded by lush jungle and the gentle sound of a waterfall.
The waterfall venue is one of my favorite spots at the property to photograph a wedding. It is private, romantic, and beautifully tucked away in nature, making it one of the most naturally atmospheric ceremony spots in Ubud. From the quiet moments while Liana was getting ready in the villa to their heartfelt vows by the water, every part of the day felt meaningful and full of connection.
The Royal Pitamaha is known for its traditional Balinese architecture, tucked into a steep valley overlooking the Ayung River. Stone pathways, tropical gardens, and a private waterfall and holy pool give the resort a secluded, old-world character that photographs beautifully in both natural daylight and softer late-afternoon light. After the ceremony, we explored the gardens and the holy pool for photos around the resort, with the soft Ubud afternoon light adding a magical touch to each frame. As a Bali wedding photographer, sessions like this remind me why I love shooting at The Royal Pitamaha: the combination of architecture, greenery, and natural water features gives every couple a completely different backdrop in almost every corner of the property.
