When Maggie reached out about a family photoshoot in Bali, she mentioned the Bedugul area. The first location that came to mind was Banyuwana Waterfall, one of my favorite spots for both family photography and pre-wedding sessions.
As a Bali family photographer, I love recommending Banyuwana Waterfall for several reasons. The climate in Bedugul is cooler than other parts of Bali, which makes it so much more comfortable for kids, parents, or even couples in gowns and tuxedos. Unlike the hotter and more humid areas of the island, here you can enjoy the photoshoot without worrying about too much heat.

Access to the waterfall is also very easy. From the ticket booth, you can either walk down or take a motorbike taxi (called “ojek” in Indonesian) directly to the site. Once you arrive, Banyuwana greets you with a unique natural backdrop that looks almost like a giant painting wall covered in flowing water and lush greenery. It’s calm, elegant, and perfect for creating timeless family portraits.
If you are planning a Bali family photoshoot and want something unique, Banyuwana Waterfall is a perfect choice. The combination of fresh mountain air, soft natural light, and the peaceful water wall makes it an unforgettable experience. You can see from the photos here why this location is one of the most loved spots for family sessions in Bali.
